About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Em.
I am a qualified, integrative therapist and counsellor offering online and in person support from a warm and welcoming cabin between Wellington and Taunton in Somerset.
If sitting down with someone feels too much, I also offer options to walk and talk or explore creatively what cannot be put into words. Sometimes walking alongside another can create a more relaxed and natural way to talk, and being in nature and / or working creatively can allow thoughts and feelings to flow more freely.
I work with all adults aged 18 and over - the young to the young at heart.
Life brings many transitions—becoming an adult, a partner, a parent; losing a job, a sense of identity, beliefs, health, or someone important; feeling stuck, lost, or unsure which way to turn.
These moments can feel overwhelming, and you don’t have to navigate them alone.
This is a space where you can begin to make sense of what you’re going through, at your own pace. Together, we can begin to work towards finding steadiness, reconnecting with yourself and others, and building a way forward that feels more manageable and meaningful.
As an integrative therapist, I offer a collaborative process—working together at your pace, through conversation, reflection, and curiosity. I draw on different approaches, tailoring the work to you as an individual.
I offer a supportive and confidential space where you can explore your experiences, your world, and how you relate to yourself and others.
What does it mean, for you, to be a human ‘be-ing’ rather than a human doing? This work can be about slowing down, making space, and gently reconnecting—with yourself, with others, and with what matters to you.
Practice description
Before training as a therapist, I worked in education for 22 years as a primary school teacher and Assistant Head, with responsibility for Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH). This experience has given me a deep understanding of children and young people, and of the complex emotional and relational needs that can shape learning, relationships, and wellbeing across all stages of life.
Alongside this, I bring extensive experience of—and a strong appreciation for—the unique challenges faced by parents and senior leaders as they navigate the often competing needs of children, families, schools, and the wider education system.
Working in an holistic way, I recognise the deep connection between mind and body, and how our experiences can be held and expressed in different ways. Whatever we may be facing I believe we deserve to be met with compassion. Taking time to pause and reflect is not a luxury, but something we are all worthy of.
I also hold a firm belief that each of us is a unique individual, doing our best to navigate life as it unfolds. At times, this can feel overwhelming or uncertain.
I offer a warm, steady space where you can pause, step back, and reconnect with yourself. Together, we can gently explore what has brought you to therapy and find a way forward that feels more grounded, manageable, and sustainable.
My first session
Before our first session, I offer a free 20-minute exploratory, no-obligation conversation. This is an opportunity to share what brings you to therapy, ask any questions you may have, and get a sense of how we might work together.
Most importantly, it’s a chance for us to connect. Having taken the courageous step of reaching out, this allows you the space to decide whether you’d like to take the next step and continue the journey together.
When you feel ready to move forward, our first session offers a gentle opportunity to begin exploring your experiences in more depth. We will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
I aim to support you in deepening your understanding and awareness, helping you to make meaningful changes and to develop a greater sense of self-compassion.
