About me and my therapy practice
I'm an integrative therapist supporting adults who are feeling overwhelmed or are struggling to make sense of difficult experiences. My core area of expertise is bereavement and loss, and I can support you with anxiety, low mood and identity issues.
My approach is relational and tailored to you. I believe it's important to build a therapeutic relationship where you feel safe, understood, and able to explore what’s going on for you at your own pace.
As an integrative therapist, I draw on psychodynamic and humanistic approaches: This means we may explore patterns in your relationships or past experiences, while also focusing on your present-day thoughts, feelings, and challenges. I firmly believe we need to know ourselves to understand where our difficulties may lie.
Alongside developing insight, we can work towards practical ways of coping and making meaningful changes in your life.
Practice description
My background includes working at a local hospice, where I developed a strong foundation in grief counselling. I also volunteer with a charity for survivors of sexual abuse and rape, where I am constantly learning about the effects of trauma and which has deepened my understanding of trauma and its impact.
In addition, I have over ten years’ experience working with neurodivergent individuals, including children, girls, and women, which informs my understanding of how neurodivergence can shape identity, relationships, and daily life.
My own experience of therapy has shown me how valuable it can be to have a consistent, supportive space during difficult times. This underpins my work with clients.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (ÌÇÐĹÙÍø) and adhere to its Ethical Framework. I am committed to ongoing professional development and regular supervision to ensure I practise safely, ethically, and with care.
My first session
Coming to a first counselling session can feel daunting. We will go at your pace, with space for you to share as much or as little as feels comfortable.
We will begin to explore what has brought you to therapy and what you might be hoping for.
There is no expectation to have everything figured out. My role is to listen, support you in making sense of your experiences, and begin to understand how we might work together in a way that feels helpful for you.
This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions and get a sense of whether I am the right therapist for you.
