About me and my therapy practice
I hold an MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy from Birkbeck, University of London (Level 7) and my approach is informed by psychoanalytic thinking.
I came to psychotherapy after spending 20 years working internationally in the performing arts — touring with orchestras and dance companies across the world. I loved that work for the people it brought me into contact with: stagehands, ambassadors, musicians, volunteers from every corner of the globe. Hearing people's stories, and wanting to understand them more deeply, is what eventually led me to retrain as a psychotherapist.
I have worked in a university counselling service, at Albany Trust (a charity supporting LGBTQIA+ clients with questions of gender, sexuality and relationships), and with older adults at Age UK and the NHS. Across all of this, I have been drawn to the same territory: questions of identity, difference and belonging — whether that's cultural, sexual, or in relation to family and personal history.
I am a registered member of the ÌÇÐĹÙÍø and work in accordance with their ethical framework.
Je propose également des séances en français.
Practice description
I offer a confidential, non-judgmental space where you can speak freely about whatever is on your mind.
I work psychodynamically, which means I believe that our present difficulties are often connected to earlier experiences. In therapy, we explore what is troubling you now but also try to understand its possible roots — through reflection and by allowing thoughts to surface freely.
I especially enjoy working with young adults in their 20s and 30s who are navigating questions of identity, belonging and self-understanding — whether that's around gender, sexuality, cultural heritage, family expectations, or a sense of feeling stuck or not quite themselves. I also bring specific experience of working with people in the performing arts and those living an itinerant or internationally mobile life.
Therapy can be short-term (around 12 weeks) or with no fixed end date — we decide together what feels right for you.
My first session
Getting started can feel daunting, so I offer a free initial 20-minute phone call — a no-commitment chance for you to ask any questions, and for me to hear a little about what has brought you here.
If you wish to continue, we will then have two consultation sessions. These are a chance to explore what it feels like to work together, to hear in more detail about your reason for coming to therapy and to check that we would be a good fit. At the end we decide together whether you'd like to continue with therapy.
I offer the option of a reduced rate when booking and paying for both consultations in advance: two sessions for £136 (saving £24). After the consultations, sessions are invoiced monthly.
