About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Rosie. I am an Integrative Therapist (MÌÇÐĹÙÍø) and trauma-informed outdoor practitioner.

What I mean by ‘trauma-informed’ is that my practice is built on safety, trust, choice and empowerment. This understanding has been shaped through supporting adults affected by both acute and chronic trauma in individual therapy and outdoor recovery programmes. Whether or not you identify your experiences as trauma, I believe a trauma-informed approach benefits everyone.

I work with adults who are navigating challenging life events, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, and periods of change.

Something may feel heavy, confusing, or difficult to make sense of. You may feel disconnected from yourself, stuck in patterns that no longer serve you or unsure why life feels harder than it should.

Whatever brings you here, you are welcome.

I offer a grounded, collaborative space where you can explore your experiences at a manageable pace.

As an integrative therapist, I tailor our work to your individual needs. I believe the therapeutic relationship is central to the process, and that meaningful change often begins with feeling safe enough to be fully yourself in the presence of another person.

My approach is primarily humanistic and relational, drawing on somatic awareness, Compassionate Inquiry, CBT and Internal Family Systems (IFS) where helpful.

There is no right way to begin, and you don't need an agenda. We can start where you are and work with what unfolds, even if things feel uncertain or difficult to put into words.

Practice description

Sessions last 60 minutes and are usually held weekly. Fortnightly sessions and standalone sessions are also available, depending on individual circumstances.

  • Roam Therapy – Outdoor Walk & Talk, in the East Devon area

Outdoor sessions combine the therapeutic relationship with gentle movement and time in nature.

My experience in outdoor practice has developed from my work with the charity Millimetres 2 Mountains. Supporting the design and delivery of outdoor trauma recovery programmes, adaptive expeditions, and community wellbeing walks has deepened my appreciation of just how transformational nature connection can be for building resilience, self-connection and recovery, in ways that feel empowering and accessible.

For some, walking side-by-side can feel more comfortable than sitting opposite each other. Taking our sessions outdoors can help to support emotional regulation and processing.

Outdoor therapy doesn’t have to mean ‘challenge’. We will move at your pace, with location options tailored to your needs.

Accessibility

Access and adaptability are central to my practice. Sessions are designed to respond to individual needs, including sensory, mobility, emotional and communication preferences. Please feel welcome to discuss anything that would support you.

I also offer:

  • Virtual Therapy – Online or By Phone

Connecting from familiar surroundings can sometimes make it feel easier to open up and engage in therapy, particularly when travel, location, health, caring responsibilities, or busy schedules create barriers to meeting in person. I am a certified provider of online and phone therapy.

  • Indoor Therapy – In the room, East Devon

Indoor sessions take place in a calm, comfortable room in Aylesbeare, 10 miles east of Exeter on the 9/9A bus route. While the room and facilities are wheelchair accessible, unfortunately there are two steps to access the building. If you would like to discuss accessibility or explore ways of working together, you are welcome to get in touch.

My first session

When you are ready to make contact, you are welcome to briefly share what brings you here. There’s no pressure to say more than you’d like to at this stage.

I aim to respond to all enquiries by the end of the next working day.

Where helpful, I may offer a brief introductory call for an opportunity to ask any questions and get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit, with no obligation to continue.

Please note that all outdoor therapy begins with an initial 60-minute indoor session, charged at the standard rate.

I reserve a small number of reduced-rate spaces for those on a low income. Please feel free to mention when getting in touch to discuss current availability.

On Location - OUTDOOR RETREATS & EXPEDITIONS EX4
07854874652
Sessions from £55.00

Features

  • Flexible hours available
  • Wheelchair accessible office
  • Concessionary rates

Availability

I am open to conversations with retreat providers, charities, outdoor leaders, and programme facilitators who may be exploring the inclusion of therapeutic support within outdoor and nature-based settings in the UK and overseas.

Availability varies throughout the year and will depend on programme dates, location, and scope.

About me and my therapy practice

Alongside 1:1 practice, I collaborate with retreat providers, charities, and outdoor leaders to provide therapeutic support within outdoor and nature-based programmes, expeditions, and recovery initiatives.

I bring a trauma-informed approach to my work, grounded in principles of safety, trust, choice, and empowerment. This understanding has been shaped through supporting adults affected by both acute and chronic trauma in individual therapy and outdoor recovery programmes.

My role in outdoor settings involves supporting the emotional and relational processes within group experiences, helping to create conditions in which participants can feel safe, connected, and able to engage meaningfully.

Depending on the nature of the programme, my contribution may include:

• Group contracting and supporting psychological safety

• Trauma-informed input into programme design and delivery

• 1:1 therapeutic support within group settings

• Wellbeing and grounding check-ins

• Facilitating group reflection and connection

• Supporting emotional processing and integration

Practice description

My focus for each event is on creating an environment of trust and psychological safety, supporting connection, confidence, and meaningful engagement for participants.

I work relationally, staying attuned to pace and evolving group dynamics, while holding both structure and flexibility as needed.

This may include holding reflective group spaces, supporting participants through moments of overwhelm or vulnerability, or helping facilitators respond thoughtfully to emotional and relational dynamics as they arise.

I aim to bring a grounded and steady presence, complementing the expertise already present within the team and bringing therapeutic insight to support both participants and facilitators.

Background

My experience in outdoor practice has developed through my work with Millimetres 2 Mountains. Supporting the design and delivery of outdoor trauma recovery programmes, adaptive expeditions, and community wellbeing walks in the UK and overseas has deepened my understanding of the role nature connection can play in supporting resilience, self-connection, and recovery.
