About me and my therapy practice

Reaching out for therapy isn’t always easy. Whether you’re looking for support for yourself or your child, finding someone you feel comfortable with is an important first step.

I’m Sally, an integrative therapist working with children, teenagers, young people and adults. I hold an MSc in Counselling Children and Young People and have over 20 years’ experience supporting children, young people and families, including many years working within education.

Many of the young people I work with experience anxiety, low mood, emotional overwhelm, low self-esteem, school-related difficulties, friendship issues, anger, self-harm, or the lasting effects of difficult life experiences. Parents often tell me they feel unsure how to help or that their child has stopped talking to them. My aim is to create a space where young people feel safe enough to begin expressing themselves at their own pace.

Alongside my specialist work with children and young people, I also support adults experiencing anxiety, stress, depression, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, burnout, chronic illness, grief and the ongoing impact of earlier life experiences. Therapy can provide the opportunity to better understand yourself, develop healthier ways of coping and move towards lasting change.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is central to effective therapy. Feeling heard, accepted and understood creates the foundations for meaningful change, so I work collaboratively, without judgement, and at a pace that feels right for you.

As an integrative therapist, I tailor therapy to each individual rather than following one single approach. Depending on your needs, I draw upon a range of evidence-informed therapeutic models. With children and young people, I also incorporate creative approaches where appropriate, including Lego®-based activities, Domino Therapy, sand tray work, games, drawing and other creative resources.

Practice description

I work relationally and integratively, recognising that no two people have the same experiences or needs. My approach is grounded in developing a trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel genuinely listened to and understood.

Depending on your needs, I draw upon person-centred, attachment-informed, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural approaches, adapting sessions to suit the individual rather than expecting the individual to fit the model.

Whether you’re seeking support for yourself or your child, my aim is to provide a calm, compassionate and confidential space where you can make sense of your experiences and move towards meaningful, lasting change.

Alongside private practice, I work with schools, colleges and care providers, delivering individual therapy and therapeutic support within educational settings. I hold an enhanced DBS certificate and can provide all required professional documentation.

I offer appointments from comfortable therapy rooms in Northamptonshire and Central Milton Keynes, as well as online across the UK.

If you’re considering therapy and would like to discuss whether I’m the right therapist for you or your child, you’re welcome to arrange a free, confidential initial telephone conversation. This gives us the opportunity to talk about what has brought you to therapy, answer any questions, and decide whether working together feels like the right fit.

My first session

Taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting, whether you’re seeking support for yourself or your child. My aim is to make the process feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible.

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We’ll talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you hope to achieve, and any questions or concerns you may have. There is no pressure to share everything straight away—we’ll work at a pace that feels right for you.

If you’re bringing your child or teenager and we haven’t already had a conversation, I’ll usually spend a little time with you at the beginning to understand your concerns before meeting with your child individually. Depending on their age and needs, we may also spend some time together at the end of the session to discuss practical arrangements and answer any questions.

Before our first appointment, I’ll send you the relevant information and consent forms to complete, so we can spend our time together focusing on you rather than paperwork.

The first session is also an opportunity for you to decide whether I feel like the right therapist for you or your child. Finding the right fit is important, and you’re under no obligation to continue if it doesn’t feel right.

Part of my work is with schools, colleges and care providers, offering both individual sessions for specific children and young people, and regular on-site support for multiple students.

I hold an enhanced DBS certificate and can provide all required identification, insurance and professional documentation, making the referral and onboarding process straightforward and efficient.

If it would be helpful, I am able to go into school to work with your child or teen.

About me and my therapy practice

Alongside my ongoing work with adults, I am a specialist in working with children, teenagers and young people. With a MSc in Counselling Children and Young People, and with over 20 years’ experience, including within education settings, I connect with and 'get' how difficult life can feel, for both them, and their families.

Parents often tell me that their child won’t talk to them, doesn’t want help, or has become increasingly isolated. Many young people who are reluctant to engage with support find that talking with me feels different.

As a therapist and a mum, I understand how emotional difficulties can affect the whole family, and how hard it can be to know how to help.

Many of the young people I work with are thoughtful and sensitive, but can find themselves overwhelmed, anxious, or carrying more than feels manageable. Many are angry and feel misunderstood. Many withdraw and isolate themselves from the family around them.

I work with adults experiencing similar feelings of anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, overwhelm, chronic illness, and the lasting impact of earlier life experiences. Many adults come to therapy feeling stuck, exhausted from carrying everything alone, or repeating patterns they don’t fully understand. Some feel lonely or sad, struggling with things at work or at home, or the challenges that life can bring us. Many have difficulty making sense of what they're experiencing or how they're feeling.

Building a genuine connection is at the heart of my work, whether I’m working with children, teenagers or adults.

I can help make sense of what you’re experiencing.

We work together to find what feels right for you.

You don’t have to carry it all on your own.
