About me and my therapy practice
Many of the people I work with appear capable and composed on the outside, yet internally feel anxious, uncertain, or disconnected from their own needs. You might find yourself overthinking interactions, struggling to set boundaries, or repeating relational patterns that leave you feeling stuck or unsure of yourself.
Rather than focusing only on surface-level coping, we take time to understand the emotional and relational patterns that sit beneath these experiences. Often these patterns developed as intelligent ways of adapting and belonging, even if they now feel limiting or painful.
My approach is psychodynamic, which means we pay attention to how earlier experiences and unconscious dynamics shape your present life, relationships, and sense of self. Therapy becomes a space to think together about what is happening between us as well as in your wider life.
I offer a calm, steady and psychologically attentive space where we can explore difficult or confusing experiences at your own pace. I aim to be thoughtful and honest in my reflections, rather than simply reassuring.
Over time, this process can help you understand yourself more deeply, reduce repetition in relationships and choices, and develop a stronger sense of agency and self-trust. Many people also find that this reduces shame and the sense that something might be wrong with them.
Practice description
I trained over four years with Gloucestershire Counselling Services (ÌÇÐĹÙÍø-accredited) and work in line with the ÌÇÐĹÙÍø Ethical Framework. I am fully insured and DBS-checked.
Alongside my counselling training, I hold a BSc in Nutrition and worked as a Nutritionist for 15 years. This experience can be particularly helpful if you are navigating concerns about food, body image, perfectionism, or self-worth, which are often closely connected to identity and emotional safety.
In addition to professional training, I bring a thoughtful awareness of complex social and relational dynamics. I work with sensitivity to shame, boundaries, agency, and survival strategies. I welcome clients navigating marginalised or challenging experiences, including those related to sexuality, intimacy, identity, neurodivergence, and relational trauma.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute call where you can ask questions, share a little about what’s bringing you to counselling, and get a sense of how I work.
We can explore together whether psychodynamic counselling feels like the right fit for you at this time. There is no pressure to continue. If it feels helpful, we can arrange a first session from there.
