About me and my therapy practice
How we work together matters. Feeling able to be honest and fully yourself is an important part of the process.
I work as an integrative therapeutic counsellor, drawing from different approaches and adapting the work around you rather than following a fixed model. I offer a steady, respectful relationship where you do not have to perform, explain yourself perfectly, or hold everything together.
We begin with what has brought you to counselling and what you hope might feel different. People come to counselling for many reasons. You may be facing something that feels big, or something quieter that has become hard to carry: anxiety, low self-esteem, grief, relationship difficulties, the impact of a long-term health condition, life changes, or a sense that things no longer feel sustainable.
Sessions may involve exploring current challenges, reflecting on past experiences or relational patterns, and developing a clearer understanding of how these continue to shape your life in the present. Sometimes the work is about understanding; sometimes it is about change. Often, it is both.
I work at a pace that feels manageable for you. Some clients want room to think and feel more deeply; others are looking for support with a specific situation, feeling, relationship or decision.
Where helpful, I can also bring a gentle coaching perspective into the counselling work, supporting reflection, clarifying goals and considering practical next steps. This is always collaborative and guided by your needs, boundaries and circumstances.
You do not need to have everything worked out before coming to counselling. We can start with what feels most present, and work together to understand what is happening, what may need attention, and what moving forward might look like for you.
Practice description
Before arranging a first session, I offer a free initial telephone call. This gives us an opportunity to talk through what has brought you to counselling, answer any questions you may have, and consider whether working together feels right for you.
Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly, offering consistency and continuity. Some clients attend counselling for support with a specific difficulty, while others choose longer-term work to explore deeper patterns, relationships and experiences.
I offer sessions in person from my private counselling room in Tunbridge Wells, as well as online counselling across the UK. My practice is based close to The Pantiles, with free parking available.
I practise within clear professional boundaries, maintain regular clinical supervision, and work in accordance with the ÌÇÐĹÙÍø Ethical Framework.
My first session
The first session gives us time to begin understanding what has led you to seek counselling and what support you may need.
I will ask some questions about your current circumstances, relevant background, support network, and anything important for me to know before we begin working together. This helps me understand how best to support you and whether I am the right person to work with you.
We will also go through the practical side of therapy, including confidentiality, boundaries, fees, cancellations and how sessions are structured. These details will be included in a counselling agreement, so we both have a clear and shared understanding from the start.
There will be time for you to ask questions, and you do not need to decide everything straight away. The first session is a chance to begin gently and see how it feels.
