About me and my therapy practice

I'm Louise, an integrative counsellor. I offer a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space where I can support you through life's challenges.

I worked in Education for 16 years, gaining extensive experience with ASD and ADHD before becoming a counsellor.

As a fully trained counsellor, my approach is deep rooted in Person-Centred Therapy, an approach that focuses on creating a warm, accepting, and non-judgmental space where you can truly feel heard and understood.

I have supported  individuals facing many mental health challenges such as, anxiety, depression, grief, including complex grief, relationships, trauma, self-esteem/confidence, personal growth and chronic pain and illness.

Reaching out for support can be difficult and often requires a lot of courage. I am here to listen with empathy and compassion and  support you through whatever you are going through.

If you find yourself ruminating on the past, feeling stuck, unable to move forward, or if you're anxious about the future, we can work together to uncover what might be preventing you from fully living and embracing the present.

Let me tell you about my integrated approaches that compliment Person-Centred Therapy.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), has proven to be especially effective in helping individuals manage chronic pain, emotional challenges, and major life transitions. ACT empowers you to embrace what cannot be changed while taking meaningful actions aligned with core values, helping you find resilience and purpose in life.

I incorporate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help clients recognise unhelpful thoughts and develop healthier thinking.

Insights from Psychodynamic Therapy,  explores unconscious thoughts and feelings to help individuals understand and resolve deep-rooted emotional conflicts.

Solution Focussed Therapy is a quick, goal-oriented approach that helps people find solutions by focusing on their strengths and what’s already working in their lives.

Practice description

I provide a free telephone consultation to discuss your reasons for counselling and to determine if counselling is right for you.

We will discuss your expectations and identify what is necessary to attain the most effective results from your therapy. This is your opportunity to ask me any questions about the counselling process.

Sessions can range from 6-12 weekly appointments. Clients usually notice improvements by this time frame.

Open ended sessions are offered as some clients may require extended sessions due to more complex experiences. Together, we will always review your progress regularly.

All sessions are confidential, the counselling room is a welcoming, warm and safe space where you can feel comfortable sharing your experiences.

My first session

During your first session we will discuss the counsellor and client contract. You will be asked to sign the consent form containing the information from your initial telephone consultation, an attendance form and a cancellation policy for appointments cancelled within a 48 hour time scale (This takes a few minutes, then we can begin your session).
