About me and my therapy practice

You may not know it, but you’ve already taken the first step...It can be scary and confusing making the decision to contact a therapist, but in my experience people will struggle with a mental health issue, a personal crisis or problems with a relationship for much longer than is healthy. Sometimes a friend has proved a source of comfort, but this help can only go so far. Realising that resolving a problem requires something more means you have already moving towards improving your life. I offer a calm, grounded space where you can talk openly — without judgment or pressure to be anything other than yourself.

My approach is kind, reflective, and relational, supporting you to make sense of what feels difficult and move toward clarity, self-understanding, and change at your own pace. From time to time, this involves exploring long-standing patterns rooted in early experiences or trauma, but only ever at your pace.

Many people notice that stress doesn’t always stay in one area of their life. Anxiety shows up in the body through pain, sickness, racing thoughts and exhaustion. These experiences can feel overwhelming, and it’s understandable how they might affect the way you see yourself and move through daily life.

I work with adult individuals from all backgrounds, with particular experience in supporting people living with ADHD, those affected by narcissistic abuse, grief and life transitions; all recognised situations that bring about anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. My work is primarily person-centred, drawing on solution-focused therapy and integrative therapy where helpful.

My first session

Before our first session, I will email you a contract and the address of the therapy rooms along with the date and time of our appointment.

The therapy rooms where I work from are welcoming, safe and private, with special attention paid in the decor to the needs of neurodiverse clients. There are large sofas, plenty of throws and cushions with different textures all of which create a sense of calm.  Someone is on reception at all times and you will be offered a tea, coffee or water for your comfort.

At our first session I will bring a copy of the contract and I’ll invite you to read through and sign a it. We’ll take our time going through it, and you’re very welcome to ask any questions along the way. I’ll also ask for a few details, such as your name, address, and your doctor’s surgery.

Once we’ve covered these tasks, we can begin the session and focus on whatever feels most important for you.

We’ll spend some time exploring what has brought you to therapy, the areas you might like to focus on, and any goals you may have. It’s completely okay if you’re unsure about any of this at the moment — we can take things step by step and come back to these questions whenever it feels helpful.

Before you book a session, I offer a free 15-minute informal telephone or video chat to see if I am the right therapist for you. This gives you the opportunity to ask any initial questions.
