About me and my therapy practice

I offer a calm, thoughtful space where you can speak openly and at your own pace. I aim to understand your world as you experience it, and rather than directing or advising you, we can begin to notice what feels stuck, what matters to you, and what might be shifting beneath the surface. Many people find that having a space where they feel genuinely heard, without judgement or pressure, allows things to move in a way that feels more natural and sustainable.

My core training and approach is person-centred, which means I don’t see you as a problem to be fixed, but as someone trying to make sense of difficult experiences, feelings, or patterns in your life.

Practice description

I work with adults on a range of issues, including anxiety, low mood, self-criticism, relationship difficulties, and periods of feeling overwhelmed or stuck. Some clients come with a clear sense of what they want to work on whilst others arrive feeling unsure, but knowing something isn’t quite right.

Sessions are usually weekly and last 50 minutes. I offer both in-person and online appointments. My aim is to provide a consistent and reliable space where you can think, feel, and reflect more freely than might be possible elsewhere.

While my core approach is person-centred, I draw on relevant ideas where appropriate, particularly in understanding patterns of self-criticism, emotional overwhelm, or the impact of earlier experiences. I tend to work in a way that is collaborative and responsive, rather than rigidly structured or prescriptive.

Alongside private practice, I have experience working in organisational and charity settings, which has included supporting clients with complex or long-standing difficulties. This has also meant working within frameworks that value outcome measures and reflective practice, which I bring into my work in a way that supports, rather than intrudes on, the therapeutic relationship.

My first session

I believe that finding a therapist that feels right for you is so important and so initially, I offer a telephone consultation free of charge.

If you then decide you would like to work with me, there’s no expectation to go into everything in detail straight away.

In our first full session, I’ll usually ask a few gentle questions to understand your current situation and any relevant background, but this isn’t a formal assessment. Some clients find it helpful to name specific goals; others prefer to keep things more open. We can work either way.

We can begin with what feels most important and there’s also space for you to ask any questions about how I work.
