I’m currently available for online sessions with adults and young people, and I also offer CYP counselling within school settings where appropriate.
About me and my therapy practice
Finding a counsellor can feel daunting, especially when life is busy, so hopefully this is a simple introduction to me and my practice. I’m Emma, an integrative counsellor offering a gentle, collaborative space where you can talk openly and feel supported.
I’m based on the Hampshire & Surrey borders and work with adults and children (5+) on themes such as anxiety, loss, identity, self esteem, life challenges and school or work related issues. My aim is to help you feel heard, understood, and able to make sense of what’s happening in your life.
Practice description
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on both person centred and psychodynamic approaches, depending on what you need from each session. I’m led by you — your pace, your experiences, and what feels important to explore.
My CYP training gives me a strong grounding in creative, age appropriate ways of working, and I adapt sessions to suit each young person. I’m also happy to work with children in their school setting, collaborating with teachers, SENCo’s and parents to ensure consistent support.
Before retraining as a counsellor, I spent many years in the hospitality industry and now work as an ELSA in a school. These roles have given me a broad understanding of people from all walks of life and a deep appreciation for the different ways we all navigate the world.
I currently offer sessions online or within school settings.
My first session
Our first free 20 minute session takes place online or over the phone. It’s simply a chance for us to get to know each other and for you to get a feel for whether you feel comfortable with me. We can talk about what brings you to counselling, what you might like to focus on, and what your hopes are for our work together.
For parents arranging counselling for their young person, this initial call is an opportunity to share what’s going on, ask any questions, and discuss any worries or concerns. Your child is welcome to join the call if they’d like to.
There’s no pressure to book straight away — I encourage you to take some time to reflect on our conversation and decide whether you’d like to move forward together.
