About me and my therapy practice

I know that starting counselling can feel daunting, especially if you’ve never spoken to someone about how you’re feeling before.

I’m an integrative counsellor, which means I use different approaches depending on what you need. Everyone is unique, so we’ll work together to find what feels most helpful for you.

I offer a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can talk openly about whatever is going on in your life. You don’t need to have all the right words or know exactly where to start. We can figure things out together.

I work creatively when it feels helpful. Sometimes talking isn’t enough, and using things like objects, painting, drawing, sand tray, images, or other creative activities can help explore thoughts and feelings in a different way. There’s never any pressure to work creatively, and no artistic ability is needed.

My role isn’t to tell you what to do or to judge you. Instead, I will listen, support you, and help you make sense of your experiences so that you can move forward in a way that feels right for you.

Practice description

I offer counselling for adults and young people aged 11+ in a welcoming, confidential space.

People come to counselling for many different reasons. You may be feeling overwhelmed, low in mood, anxious, struggling with understanding who you are, exploring or navigating relationships, coping with a loss, or finding life difficult right now. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from counselling. Sometimes it can simply help to have a space that is yours, where you can pause, reflect, and be heard.

I work both short-term and longer-term, depending on your needs. Sessions are led by you and what feels important to bring each week.

I believe that feeling safe, accepted, and understood is at the heart of effective counselling. My aim is to build a genuine therapeutic relationship where you can explore your experiences openly and at your own pace.

I offer face-to-face counselling in a comfortable private practice setting and telephone sessions where appropriate.

My first session

Choosing a counsellor is an really important decision, and the first session gives us both a chance to see whether we feel like a good fit for working together.

I offer a free 15-minute introductory phone call. This is an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have, tell me a little about what brings you to counselling, and get a sense of whether I might be the right counsellor for you.

There is no obligation to book sessions after the call. Sometimes a brief conversation can help you decide whether counselling feels like the right next step.

If we decide to work together, we can then arrange an initial session.

If you’ve never had counselling before, that’s completely okay. Our first session is a chance to ask questions, find out how counselling works, and talk about what has brought you here.

We’ll explore what support you’re looking for, and I’ll explain a little about how I work, confidentiality, and some practical details. There is no expectation that you share everything straight away, and you can go at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

My aim is for you to leave the session with a clearer idea of what counselling with me would be like and whether it feels right for you.
