About me and my therapy practice
Do you feel overwhelmed, stuck, or struggling with your relationship with food, your emotions, or ways of coping?
This might show up as restriction, bingeing, emotional eating, using substances to cope, or living with persistent pain that affects your daily life. You may feel pressure to keep going, to appear 鈥渇ine鈥, or find yourself meeting everyone else鈥檚 needs while losing touch with your own.
I am a neurodivergent, trauma-informed counsellor specialising in eating disorders, chronic pain and addiction. I understand how these experiences often overlap and can become ways of managing difficult emotions, stress, trauma, overwhelm or unmet needs.
Many of the people I work with have spent years trying to cope alone, feeling frustrated that they 鈥渒now what they should do鈥 but find themselves stuck in the same patterns. I believe these patterns make sense when we understand the role they play in helping us manage life鈥檚 challenges.
I also have a particular interest in supporting autistic, ADHD and AuDHD clients, including those diagnosed later in life. I understand how sensory differences, masking, burnout, perfectionism and emotional regulation can influence our relationship with food, our bodies, our health and the ways we cope.
Together, we can explore your experiences with curiosity and compassion, helping you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and work towards meaningful, sustainable change. My approach is neuroaffirmative, collaborative and tailored to your individual needs.
With over 20 years of experience in healthcare and lived experience of neurodivergence, I bring both professional and personal understanding to my work. You do not need a diagnosis to seek support, and you do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out.
I offer online counselling throughout the UK and in-person sessions in Dunfermline, Fife. I鈥檇 love to hear from you if you have any questions.
Practice description
I offer a welcoming, non-judgemental, trauma-informed space where you can explore your experiences safely and at your own pace.
I work pluralistically, which means I don鈥檛 believe there is one single 鈥渞ight鈥 way to do therapy. Instead, I draw on a range of approaches and adapt our work to suit you, your needs, your goals, and what feels most helpful at any given time.
My focus is you: your story, your experiences, and what matters to you.
My work is informed by:
鈥 Transactional Analysis
鈥 Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
鈥 Person-Centred Therapy
鈥 Schema Therapy
I also integrate elements of CBT, Narrative Therapy, Gestalt and Psychodynamic approaches to create therapy that is flexible, collaborative and tailored to you.
I specialise in supporting people experiencing eating disorders, addiction and chronic pain. While these difficulties can appear very different on the surface, they often share common themes such as shame, overwhelm, emotional distress, self-criticism, and the need to cope with difficult experiences.
With a background in healthcare, I understand the complex relationship between physical health, chronic conditions, pain and emotional wellbeing.
I have a particular interest in supporting autistic, ADHD and AuDHD clients, recognising how sensory needs, masking, burnout and emotional regulation can influence our relationship with food, our bodies, our health and our ways of coping.
before training as a counsellor I spent almost 20 years working in healthcare as a chiropractor. Throughout my career, it has always been important to me that people feel heard, understood and empowered.
I don鈥檛 believe that anyone is a problem that needs fixing. Therapy offers an opportunity to better understand yourself, make sense of your experiences and move towards a way of living that feels more sustainable, authentic and aligned with who you are.
My first session
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it鈥檚 natural to feel nervous or unsure about what to expect. My aim is to create a space where you feel comfortable bringing whatever feels important to you, without fear of judgement.
Before our first appointment, I鈥檒l ask you to complete some forms and agree to our counselling contract. This helps us both understand the practicalities of working together and ensures you have all the information you need before we begin.
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We鈥檒l explore what has brought you to therapy, what you鈥檇 like support with, and any goals or hopes you may have for our work together. There is no pressure to share everything at once, and we will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Together, we can explore your experiences, develop new perspectives, and find ways of moving forward that feel meaningful and manageable.
I offer online and telephone counselling throughout the UK. If you鈥檙e considering starting therapy, you鈥檙e very welcome to get in touch with any questions鈥擨鈥檇 love to hear from you.
