About me and my therapy practice

I work from a Person-Centred Experiential approach, which means I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is not to analyse, advise or tell you what to do, but to offer a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at a pace that feels right for you.

Life can sometimes leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves. We may find ourselves carrying the impact of loss, trauma, difficult relationships, caring responsibilities or expectations that no longer fit. Therapy can provide an opportunity to pause, reflect and make sense of what you are experiencing in the presence of someone who is there to listen with empathy, acceptance and genuine curiosity.

The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my work. I believe that when we feel truly heard and understood, we are better able to access our own strengths, resilience and capacity for growth. My aim is to create a space where you feel safe enough to be honest, supported enough to explore what feels difficult and empowered enough to discover new perspectives and possibilities.

I work with adults facing a wide range of challenges, including low self-esteem, self-criticism, anxiety, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, the impact of abuse, and life transitions. I also have particular experience supporting neurodivergent individuals, people with caring responsibilities, and those seeking greater understanding of men's emotional wellbeing.

Alongside my psychotherapy training, I bring many years of experience as a professional business and life coach. This enables me to support clients navigating both personal and professional challenges while remaining firmly grounded in a therapeutic, person-centred way of working.

Practice description

Life can be challenging in ways that are difficult to carry alone. You may be struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, grief, relationship difficulties, the impact of abuse, or a sense that you've lost touch with who you are beneath the demands and expectations of everyday life. Perhaps you spend much of your time caring for others, supporting those around you, or trying to hold everything together, leaving little space for your own needs and wellbeing.

I offer a warm, compassionate and confidential space where you can talk openly about what is happening in your life without fear of judgement. Whether you are facing a specific difficulty, navigating a major life transition, or simply feeling stuck and overwhelmed, therapy can provide an opportunity to explore your experiences, gain greater self-understanding and move towards meaningful change.

I work with adults from a wide range of backgrounds and have particular experience supporting people who are living with the realities of a neurodivergent mind, managing long-term caring responsibilities, recovering from the effects of abuse, struggling with self-worth and self-criticism, or seeking greater understanding of men's emotional and mental wellbeing.

My practice, The Discovery Room, is built on the belief that growth begins with curiosity, understanding and acceptance. Together, we can explore the challenges you are facing, reconnect with your strengths and resilience, and create space for new perspectives and possibilities to emerge.

Whatever has brought you to therapy, you do not have to face it alone. Reaching out can feel like a significant step, but it can also be the beginning of an important discovery: a deeper understanding of yourself and a renewed sense of connection to the life you want to live.

My first session

Before beginning therapy, I offer a free 15-minute, no-obligation consultation call. This gives us an opportunity to briefly discuss what has brought you to therapy, explore what you are hoping to gain from the process, and decide whether we feel we are a good fit to work together. It is also a chance for you to ask any initial questions and get a sense of how I work.

If you decide to proceed, our first session will focus on getting to know one another and beginning to build a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship. We will explore what has brought you to therapy at this point in your life, what you would like support with, and any goals or hopes you may have for our work together.

The first session also provides an opportunity to discuss the practical aspects of therapy, including confidentiality, boundaries, session arrangements and our shared expectations for the work. I want you to feel informed, comfortable and able to ask any questions that are important to you.

I understand that starting therapy can feel daunting, particularly if it is your first experience of counselling or psychotherapy. My aim is to create an environment where you feel welcomed, listened to and respected from the outset. Establishing trust is an important part of the therapeutic process, and I believe that taking time to build a strong foundation together helps create the conditions for meaningful and lasting change.

From there, we can begin to explore your experiences at a pace that feels right for you, working collaboratively towards greater understanding, self-awareness and emotional wellbeing.
