About me and my therapy practice
Ian Williams (He/Him)

Life can sometimes feel overwhelming. I know that from personal experience, and it’s what led me to train as a counsellor. I offer a safe, confidential and non judgemental space where you can explore difficult emotions related to depression, anxiety, trauma or bereavement. My style is empathic, practical and collaborative. We’ll work at a pace that feels right for you, focusing on understanding your experience, building coping skills, and identifying realistic steps forward.
Practice description
I am an MSc qualified, person centred practitioner who believes in each person’s capacity for growth. In therapy you set the pace and direction; I provide a warm, accepting, and confidential space to explore feelings and develop coping strategies. My work supports adults dealing with trauma, bereavement, anxiety and stress. Prior experience as an Army reservist and a 30 year career in the emergency services has given me practical insight into trauma, crisis and loss, which I bring sensitively into sessions. I offer face to face appointments in South Warwickshire and Bromsgrove and online sessions across the UK.
My first session
The first session is free of charge and without any obligation. It takes the form of phone or video call of up to 30 minutes. This is an opportunity for you to share why you want to explore the possibility of therapy and what you’re hoping to achieve. I’ll explain my working ethos, answer any questions you may have, and you decide whether the way I offer therapy feels like a good fit for you. What I can help with

Life can sometimes feel overwhelming. I know, I’ve been there. It was those experiences that inspired me to train as a counsellor. Whatever you’re dealing with, whether it is depression, anxiety, trauma or bereavement, I offer a supportive and non-judgemental space to help you process your feelings and move forward.
Practice description
I have an MSc Counselling and Psychotherapy, and I am a person-centred practitioner. Person-centred therapy values each person as a unique individual, who has the potential for personal growth. You as the client set the pace and the direction of the work.
Working collaboratively with my clients, I seek to provide each client with the opportunity to find their own path to where they want to be. I have been an Army reservist and had a 30-year career in the emergency services. Those experiences of dealing with trauma, loss and people in crisis help to inform my practice with clients.
I work face to face with adults in the South Warwickshire and Bromsgrove areas or online anywhere in the UK.
