About me and my therapy practice

I am an integrative therapist, which means I draw on a range of tools and therapeutic approaches to help inform my work. Your individual needs, experiences and goals are at the heart of this. The way I conduct sessions is heavily dependent on the client and their presentations; however typically I am drawn to Gestalt, somatic therapy, mindfulness & breathwork and inner child work. I use the person-centred core conditions of empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence to underpin the foundations of my work. I work collaboratively, meaning we will regularly review our sessions to ensure the therapy feels helpful and aligned with what you want to achieve. Everyone is different and often I will use a range of interventions which over time will give me a sense of what best works for you.

As a holistic practitioner, I consider the connection between mind, body, and emotional wellbeing. Where appropriate, this may include exploring how stress, trauma, or life experiences are held in the body, and working with grounding, breathwork or awareness techniques to support regulation and resilience.

You are always free to choose what you bring to sessions and how deeply you wish to explore particular issues. My role is not to give advice or tell you what to do, but to support you in gaining insight, building self-awareness, and developing your own internal resources for change.

If at any point something does not feel right, I encourage you to share this so we can reflect on it together. Open communication is an important part of the therapeutic relationship.

Practice description

I am an integrative therapist, which means I draw on a range of tools and therapeutic approaches to help inform my work. Your individual needs, experiences and goals are at the heart of this. The way I conduct sessions is heavily dependent on the client and their presentations; however typically I am drawn to Gestalt, somatic therapy, mindfulness & breathwork and inner child work. I also use the foundation of person-centred principles to offer a calm, accepting and non-judgemental space where you can feel safe, heard and understood.

We will regularly review our sessions to ensure the therapy feels helpful and aligned with what you want to achieve.

My first session

After our first contact, I offer a free discovery call. This provides an opportunity for us to meet, explore whether we feel like a good fit, and for you to briefly share what has brought you to consider counselling. If you choose to proceed, I will then send you an intake form and a counselling contract, and we will book in a session at a time and day that suits you.

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and explore what has brought you to therapy. It’s also a chance for you to get a sense of how I work and whether you feel comfortable working together. There is no requirement to arrive with a clear agenda or to know exactly what you want to focus on.

We will talk through what’s going on for you at the moment, as well as any relevant background that feels important.

I may ask some gentle questions to help me understand your needs and how best to support you, but there is no formal assessment and nothing you need to prepare in advance.

You are also welcome to ask questions about therapy, my approach, or what working together might look like and to use the session to get a sense of whether this feels like the right fit for you.

There is no pressure to explore anything in depth before you are ready. It's important to go at your own pace. I want you to feel fully informed and comfortable before deciding whether to continue.

If you decide to continue, we will agree on a way of working that supports your goals and needs, and we will regularly review how things are going.
