About me and my therapy practice
I offer a warm, compassionate and confidential space for heartfelt conversation.
Whatever brings you to therapy, we will begin where you are, as you are, and at your pace.
I offer ‘walk and talk’ therapy in nature, either in Stanmer Park or on the beach. I also work from spacious and comfortable rooms in central Hove.
My work is integrative, drawing on psychodynamic, humanistic and transpersonal traditions. I also work creatively and from my intuition. In a world that is full of distraction and noise, we will create a soulful space to listen and reconnect.
My approach is holistic, working with the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of being human. I am interested in the deeper stories, relationships and patterns that have shaped you, as well as the present-moment experience of being here together.
Having experiencedchronic pain for many years I have learnt that even the most difficult feelings can be gateways to deep meaning and transformation.
I am keenly aware of the systems at play in the world of power and privilege and I bring this awareness into working with the ‘personal’ experience of who you are and how you feel.
My practice welcomes and celebrates diversity. I work from a queer-affirming, neuroaffirming and intercultural standpoint.
Practice description
My practice is warm, intuitive and inclusive.
Rather than ‘talking therapy’ I see what we’re doing as deep listening, listening to the parts of you that may have been banished, forgotten, suppressed or unloved. Here we create a space for them to be attended to.
Not only will we attend to the difficulties you face, but also the strengths, values, and inner wisdom that can guide you towards lasting change.
I see the therapy space as a sacred place to be met and seen and heard. I also see it as a playful space, in which there is an invitation to be open to the unknown. Therapy can be challenging, it can also be joyful.
With a background in whole body focussing and theatre, I am interested in the mind-body connection and somatic practices. We may look at the body’s responses or ‘felt sense’ as a doorway into the unconscious. We may also work with dreams and the imagination.
As a Forest School practitiinoer I am passionate about the role nature and the other than human world can play in our healing and holding. I see therapy as an opportunity to connect more deeply to self, other and nature. When meeting outside, nature can act as a co-therapist, offering wisdom, holding and containment.
I work in a way which prioritises creating a relationship that feels safe enough for you to experiment with allowing more of yourself to be met, known, and responded to. The work is relational at its core. We are often wounded in relationship and therefore it is in relationship where we can find healing.
My first session
I offer an initial 15 minute telephone conversation free of charge. This is a chance for us to speak, for you to get a sense of me and how I work, and for us both to see whether it feels like the right fit.
The first session is a full 50-minute therapy session and is charged at my usual fee. In this first session, we would have a more in-depth conversation about what brings you to therapy, what feels important right now, and what you’re hoping for from therapy. It’s a chance for me to share more about how I work and welcome any questions you may have.
We’ll also cover practicalities together - session time, location, weekly rhythm, fees - and any questions you may have about the therapy process.
From there, we continue meeting weekly, allowing the work to unfold naturally over time.
