About me and my therapy practice
I offer a warm, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever is bringing you to counselling. My approach is relational and collaborative, which means I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is at the heart of meaningful change. I work alongside you, respecting that you are the expert on your own life and experiences.
I understand that no two people are the same, so I draw on different therapeutic approaches and adapt our work to meet your individual needs and goals. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, grief, life transitions, identity concerns, or feeling overwhelmed, I aim to provide a space where you feel heard, understood, and accepted.
As a South Asian Muslim counsellor, I recognise that culture, faith, family expectations, and identity can have a significant impact on our wellbeing. I welcome conversations about these areas if they are important to you. For clients who wish to explore their faith or spirituality within therapy, I can offer a faith-informed perspective, including integrating Islamic values where appropriate. However, my practice is inclusive and open to people of all backgrounds, cultures, faiths, and beliefs.
My role is not to tell you what to do, but to support you in making sense of your experiences, developing greater self-understanding, and moving towards the changes that feel meaningful to you.
Practice description
I provide individual counselling for adults in a safe, compassionate, and confidential environment. I understand that reaching out for support can feel daunting, and I aim to create a space where you feel comfortable to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.
I work with a range of issues, including anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, loss and grief, cultural and identity issues, family challenges, and life transitions. However, whichever life experiences you are facing, we will work through them together.
Currently, I offer both online and in-person sessions, with flexible appointment times to accommodate work, study, family commitments, and caring responsibilities. I believe that counselling should feel collaborative and tailored to your individual needs, and I will work with you to create a therapeutic space that feels supportive and meaningful.
Whatever has brought you to therapy, you will be met with empathy, respect, and without judgement.
My first session
I offer a free initial consultation, either by telephone or online, which gives us an opportunity to briefly discuss what has brought you to counselling, any questions you may have, and whether we feel we could work well together. Please note that this consultation is not a counselling session and no therapeutic work will take place during this time.
If you decide to proceed, our first counselling session will be an opportunity to explore your reasons for seeking therapy in more depth and discuss what you hope to gain from the process. I may ask some questions about your background, current circumstances, and previous experiences of support to help me understand your needs more fully.
This session is also an opportunity for you to decide whether I feel like the right counsellor for you. Finding a therapist you feel comfortable with is important, and there is no obligation to continue if you decide that I am not the right fit.
If we choose to work together, we can discuss how we would like to structure our sessions and agree on the goals and focus of our work.
