Availability
I currently have availability for new clients.
Appointments are available Monday to Thursday from 9:00am to 5:30pm and Friday from 9:00am to 2:30pm.
Sessions are offered online and in person in Edinburgh.
I am not currently planning any extended periods of leave and will provide clients with advance notice of any future changes to my availability.
About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative psychotherapist with a background in medicine, psychiatry, neuroscience and psychology with over 20 years experience working in mental health.
Many of my clients come to therapy after having engaged in previous counselling or personal development work. They often have a good understanding of their difficulties and can recognise the patterns, beliefs or experiences that contribute to them. Yet despite this awareness, they may still find themselves feeling stuck, emotionally triggered, overwhelmed, or repeating the same patterns in their relationships, work or daily lives.
My approach goes beyond developing insight alone. Together, we work to process and integrate difficult experiences, reduce the emotional intensity of old wounds, and create lasting change. Therapy is not only about understanding why something happened, but also about helping you feel, respond and live differently in the present.
Alongside my clinical work, I am an active researcher and university lecturer. My research focuses on resilience, self-compassion, trauma and neurodiversity, allowing me to integrate current evidence and developments from psychological research into my therapeutic practice.
I draw upon a range of evidence-based approaches, including EMDR, CBT, hypnotherapy, parts work, mindfulness and somatic approaches, tailoring therapy to the individual rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model. My aim is to provide a warm, collaborative and non-judgemental space where you can explore difficulties, strengthen resilience and move towards meaningful and lasting change.
Practice description
I offer face-to-face counselling in Edinburgh (with free parking), as well as online and phone sessions for those who prefer flexibility. Sessions are open-ended and completely tailored to you; you decide how long you’d like to continue and how often you want them to be.
My first session
During our first meeting, we will explore what has brought you to therapy, discuss your current difficulties and consider what you would like to gain from the therapeutic process. This session also provides an opportunity for you to ask questions, understand how I work and decide whether you feel comfortable working with me.
