About me and my therapy practice

Choosing to start therapy is a significant step, and finding the right practitioner comes down to understanding exactly what happens when you sit down in the room. My approach to psychotherapy is grounded, collaborative, and conversational. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all model, nor do I rely on clinical, blank-faced silence. Instead, I offer an active, engaged partnership where we work together to make sense of what you are experiencing.

There is no expectation for you to have everything figured out before you arrive, nor do you need to look for the "right" words. We start exactly where you are. Whether you are dealing with a specific crisis, navigating a major life transition, or struggling with long-standing patterns of anxiety, stress, or low mood, my role is to help you unpack those experiences safely and without judgment.

My practice is integrative, meaning I draw from a blend of established therapeutic approaches to suit your specific needs. I combine a deep respect for your individual history—exploring how past experiences shape your current automatic responses and behaviours—with practical, present-focused strategies. This means our work is dual-focused: we look closely at the root causes of your distress to understand the "why," while simultaneously developing clear, logical tools to help you manage your day-to-day life more effectively.

I place a high emphasis on building a strong therapeutic relationship. Therapy works best when it feels like a real, transparent conversation between two equals. You are the expert on your own life, and I bring the psychological framework to help you navigate it. We will work at a pace that feels secure but progressive, regularly checking in to ensure our work remains useful, focused, and directly aligned with the clarity you are looking for.

Practice description

What you can expect from me is an active, engaged partnership. I do not believe therapy should be a one-sided experience of silent nodding or rigid responses. Instead, our sessions feel like a focused, collaborative conversation between equals. You bring the reality of your day-to-day experiences, and I bring the therapeutic framework to help make sense of them. We look at the immediate challenges you are facing right now, while also exploring the underlying patterns or past events that might be driving your current responses.

My approach is integrative and practical. This means we don't just analyse problems; we work toward real clarity. Together, we identify logical, manageable strategies to help you navigate your daily life more effectively, while simultaneously processing the root causes of your distress. The pace of our work is always determined by you—there is no pressure to hit arbitrary milestones, only a consistent focus on what is genuinely useful to your progress.

My first session

In the first session, we will go through the contract I previously emailed you to check you understand everything and give you space to ask any questions or address any concerns you may have.

Discuss confidentiality and what that means for anything you share with me.

Professional boundaries

We will complete some questionnaires to establish a baseline to enable me to track your progress in our sessions.
