About me and my therapy practice

My approach is primarily person-centred, meaning I believe that you are the expert in your own life. I aim to provide a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can feel safe to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace.

I work collaboratively with clients, building a therapeutic relationship based on trust, empathy and acceptance. I believe that being genuinely heard and understood can be a powerful catalyst for growth and change.

While my foundation is person-centred, I also draw on knowledge and techniques from other therapeutic approaches where appropriate, tailoring my work to meet each client’s individual needs and goals.

Whether you are experiencing a specific difficulty or simply feel that something is not quite right, I will support you in developing greater self-awareness, understanding patterns in your life, and exploring ways to move forward that feel meaningful and authentic to you.

Practice description

I work with children, young people and adults, offering a compassionate and inclusive space where clients can feel heard, valued and supported.

Alongside my counselling practice, I have extensive professional experience working with children, young people and families within safeguarding services. This has given me a strong understanding of the challenges that can impact emotional wellbeing, relationships and daily life.

I support clients with a range of concerns, including anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, emotional regulation difficulties, relationship challenges, bereavement, trauma, family difficulties and life transitions.

When working with children and young people, I recognise that talking can sometimes feel difficult. I adapt my approach to suit the individual, creating a safe environment where they can express themselves in ways that feel comfortable and appropriate for their age and stage of development.

I welcome clients from all backgrounds and am committed to providing a respectful, affirming and non-judgemental service. Whatever has brought you to counselling, I aim to work alongside you to help you better understand your experiences and move towards positive and lasting change.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and explore what has brought you to counselling. We will discuss your current difficulties, what you hope to gain from therapy, and any questions you may have about the counselling process.

For children and young people, the first session may involve meeting with a parent or carer to gather background information and discuss any concerns. Depending on the child’s age and needs, we will also consider how best to help them feel comfortable and safe within the counselling space.

I may ask some questions about your background, current circumstances and wellbeing to help me gain a fuller understanding of your situation. Everything discussed will remain confidential, subject to the limits of confidentiality, which will be explained clearly during our first meeting.

There is no obligation to continue after the first session. It is important that you feel comfortable with your counsellor, and the initial meeting gives us the opportunity to consider whether we are the right fit to work together.

My aim is for you to leave the first session feeling informed, supported and clear about what counselling with me may look like moving forward.
