About me and my therapy practice
I am a psychologist, researcher and writer working with adults, couples and families experiencing trauma, anxiety, relationship difficulties, burnout, life transitions and questions of identity, meaning and direction.
I have experience working across NHS, charitable, private and international settings with both moderate and complex psychological difficulties.
I hold a PhD and have previously worked in higher education, strategy consulting and technology. I have also lived and worked internationally. These experiences continue to inform my understanding of identity, culture, relationships and the ways people navigate complexity, responsibility and change.
I see therapy as an opportunity not only to reduce distress, but also to develop a deeper understanding of yourself, your relationships and the experiences that have shaped you.
Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable and outwardly functioning, yet find themselves struggling with recurring patterns, difficult relationships, overwhelming emotions or a sense that something in their lives no longer fits. Others come to therapy following a significant loss, health challenge or period of change that has left them feeling stuck, overwhelmed or uncertain about the future.
I offer an initial consultation to discuss what brings you to therapy and whether working together feels like a good fit.
Practice description
My approach is integrative and formulation-led, drawing primarily on psychodynamic, schema, EMDR and trauma-informed approaches, alongside CBT-informed techniques where appropriate.
Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, I aim to understand the wider context of a person’s difficulties, including their relationships, life experiences, cultural background and current circumstances. Together we develop a shared understanding of what may be contributing to distress and identify ways forward that feel realistic and sustainable.
Some clients come to therapy with a specific difficulty such as anxiety, trauma, relationship problems or burnout. Others are seeking a deeper understanding of recurring patterns in their emotions, relationships or ways of coping. Depending on your needs, therapy may be focused and practical or longer-term and exploratory.
I aim to offer a thoughtful, collaborative and non-judgemental space where difficult experiences can be explored safely. My work is informed by particular interests in trauma, attachment, identity, culture, neurodiversity and the psychological impact of modern life.
My first session
ÌÇÐĹÙÍø
I offer a brief 15min introductory call so that we can discuss what brings you to therapy, and whether I may be the right person to help.
The first full session provides an opportunity to explore your current difficulties in more depth, alongside any relevant personal history, relationships or life circumstances. We will discuss what you would like to gain from therapy and begin to develop an understanding of the factors contributing to your difficulties.
The first session also allows us to consider whether working together feels like a good fit. If we decide to continue, we will discuss your goals for therapy and agree a way of working that feels appropriate for your needs.
