About me
I have been qualified as a counsellor for three years. I trained with Waverley Abbey College. I volunteer at a hospice with people affected by bereavement. I am building up a private practice. Prior to becoming a therapist, I had a long career as a social worker, specialising in adoption and fostering which informs my work as a counsellor.
I bring lived experience and expertise in loss and bereavement, childhood trauma, and supporting those involved in adoption and fostering. I also offer a warm and empathic approach to working with adults struggling with a wide range of uncertainties, pressures, and struggles related to life generally. My work also includes working with clients who are struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, emotional overwhelm, and issues rooted in childhood.

About me and my therapy practice
How I can help you
I will always go at the pace of the client, but I suggest meeting regularly – usually weekly - at the same time and day each week, which aids a sense of routine, but I can be flexible according to the situation of each client.
I offer online sessions only. If you are happy for that, my experience tells me that online working can be of enormous value to a wide range of people seeking therapy.
I charge £50 per 50-minute session, and I ask that we agree a 24-hour cancellation, otherwise you will be charged for a missed session. Having said that I would take a compassionate approach to an unexpected situation.
I work online only, on these days: Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri 9am to 5pm
Practice description
My approach to counselling
I was trained as an integrative counsellor and I use many approaches in the course of my work. I tend towards person centred therapy, meaning I let you lead, and I support you as you work through your personal issues. I don't tell you what to do. We journey together, helping you to understand what has happened in the past, to find ways to resolve past hurts, and discover better ways of living for the future.
You might not know what you are looking for at the outset of counselling, but I can assure you that I will offer a sensitive, warm, accepting, and non-judgmental approach as I journey with you as you navigate your way to achieving better understanding and identify your strengths and capacities towards managing the challenges you might be facing.
My first session
The first thing we do is an initial assessment of your needs, before we do any actual counselling work. This is an opportunity to consider why you feel counselling is the right step for you in your life at this point in time, identifying headline points which have developed along the way in your life, and what you hope to gain from counselling.
At the start of therapy, I ask that we agree on a contract so that we both understand the limits of our work, and what you should expect.
