About me and my therapy practice
I am a therapist whose work is grounded in humanistic values, with a person-centred foundation, which means I believe that you are the expert on your own life. Sometimes, however, life experiences can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves and uncertain of what we need, how we feel, or even who we are.
At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship. I believe healing happens when we feel genuinely seen, accepted and understood, perhaps in ways we never have before. I offer an authentic space where all of you is welcome, including the parts of you that can feel too painful, shameful or overwhelming to share elsewhere. I have enormous faith in people’s capacity to reclaim themselves when they are met with enough honesty, courage, and compassion. Wherever you find yourself, I will meet you there.
I work relationally and creatively, drawing from a range of approaches to meet your individual needs rather than expecting you to fit a particular model of therapy. Alongside talking therapy, I may incorporate creative methods where helpful, including art, visualisation or other experiential approaches.
I am not a blank screen therapist. What you see is who I am. There is room for humour, gentleness, curiosity, and the biggest emotions. Nothing is ‘too much’ to bring into the room. I am also not afraid to offer challenge or be directive if it feels therapeutically helpful and supports the process. I respect the ways you have learned to protect yourself and survive, while helping you explore whether those strategies are still serving you.
Above all, I believe in personal power, autonomy, and freedom from oppression in all its forms. My aim is to help you reconnect with yourself, make sense of your experiences, and move towards a life that feels more authentic, empowered and fulfilling.
Practice description
I have extensive experience across mental health, social care and the voluntary sector, and specialise in working with trauma and its lasting impact. I have particular expertise supporting survivors of sexual violence, domestic abuse and coercive relationships, and I understand the complex ways trauma can affect our sense of self, relationships, emotions and ability to feel safe in the world.
I work with adults of all ages and have significant experience supporting young adults and parents as they navigate identity, relationships, life transitions and mental health difficulties. I have experience working with neurodivergent clients and aim to offer a collaborative, affirming and flexible therapeutic space that responds to your individual needs, rather than expecting you to fit a particular way of working.
I provide a trans-inclusive, LGBTQ+ affirming space, and have experience working with clients navigating their own journeys with sexuality and/or gender identity, while facing an increasingly unwelcoming socio-political landscape.
Whether you're seeking therapy for a specific experience, struggling with longstanding patterns, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself, we will work at a pace that feels manageable for you. Therapy doesn't require you to have everything figured out before you begin; part of the process is making sense of things together.
I currently offer predominantly online sessions, with plans to expand my face-to-face availability in the near future. Concessionary rates are available based on individual circumstances, please do get in touch with me directly to discuss.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute introductory phone call before arranging a first session. This gives us an opportunity to briefly discuss what has brought you to therapy, any questions you might have, and the practicalities of working together. It also gives you a chance to get a sense of me and decide whether I feel like the right fit for you, without any obligation to continue.
If we arrange a first session, we'll spend some time exploring what has brought you to therapy, what you're hoping for, and how we might work together. There is no expectation that you tell me your whole story, or that you arrive knowing exactly what you want to say. We will work at a pace that feels manageable, and get to know each other.
As I currently work predominantly online, we'll also make sure you feel comfortable with the technology and discuss how to create a private, confidential space where you can get the most from therapy.
