About me and my therapy practice

Maybe you're feeling anxious and it won't shift. Maybe a relationship feels stuck, or you have a sense of running on empty. Or maybe you're just aware that something isn't working, and you're not sure what to do about it. You don't need to have it all figured out before getting in touch.

I work alongside you, following your lead to understand your experience and explore whatever feels important to you. I'm particularly interested in the relationship between mind and body - the neuroscience of stress, how difficult experiences shape our nervous systems, and what that means for how we work through them.

My background in adult education means that psychoeducation is central to how I work. I find that understanding the biology behind how we feel, and why certain practices such as grounding and mindfulness actually work, can remove a lot of the shame and mystery. When things make sense in this way, they become a lot more manageable, and easier to work through.

I'm committed to LGBTQ+ and neuro-affirming practice, and I approach every person as an individual, without assumptions.

I work in a person-centred and integrative way, drawing on different therapeutic approaches, such as relational and psychodynamic models, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), CBT, and trauma-informed approaches, depending on what suits you.

If you're wondering whether this might be a good fit, please get in touch. We can arrange a free conversation to talk it through.

Practice description

Whoever you are and whatever has brought you here, my aim is to offer a place where you feel accepted just as you are, and able to be yourself. I have lots of experience working with people from many different backgrounds, cultures, and life experiences.

I work with adults, offering 50-minute sessions, either in person or online via video call. Sessions take place in a purpose-built therapy room in Adel, north Leeds. It's a calm, private space with its own entrance and bathroom, overlooking a garden. The area is safe and quiet, with on-street parking and public transport links nearby.

I offer both daytime and evening appointments.

My first session

If something you've read here feels worth exploring, getting in touch is easy - just send me an email or complete the contact form on my website. We'll arrange a free 20-minute phone or video consultation, so you can get a sense of how I work and ask any questions you might have. There's no commitment in doing this.

If the consultation feels right for both of us, we'll book in a first 50-minute session. It's really important you find the right therapist for you, so this is a chance to get to know each other a little, and to talk about what's brought you to therapy and what you're hoping to get from it. We'll go at your pace, and there's no fixed number of sessions - some people come for a few months, others for longer.

I know that finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming, and reaching out can feel like a big step, so I aim to respond quickly and warmly so you can start moving forward as soon as possible.
