About me and my therapy practice

My name is Lucy, I’m an integrative counselling therapist, which means I am trained in 5 of the main counselling modalities including Attachment, Psychodynamic, Systemic, Person Centered and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. My ‘integrative’ training allows me to tailor my approach to each individual client – we are all unique and how I work with you will be unique to you.

I work on a one-to-one basis with adults (18+) offering online or face to face sessions for both short term (6 sessions) or longer term (6+ sessions).

I have a background working with a range of adult clients including those experiencing relationship difficulties both personal and work related, those caring for loved ones, past trauma, bereavement & loss, perimenopause and menopause, low mood and anxiety, feelings of being ‘stuck’, and the complexities and ambiguities of moving through phases of life.

Often, professional counselling is the only confidential space people have in their lives to talk about their personal situation, without judgement. At first this can feel unusual, but together we can work in an open, respectful way to explore whatever it is that’s troubling you.

Practice description

About me

Prior to training as a Counsellor, I worked in varying roles throughout my life, across all organisational sectors including private, public, charitable, and Higher Education, giving me a broad perspective of the workplace and people in general. I have experienced life’s ups and downs and have at various times sought counselling to work through difficult issues, so I understand how important it is to provide a safe, supportive, confidential, non-judgemental space to explore your deepest fears and anxieties.

Qualifications and Member organisations

I am qualified to Level 7 Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, and am currently completing my Masters.

Prior to my Post-Graduate Diploma I completed a Level 4 Certificate in Counselling, and from university (the first time round) I completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioural Sciences.

As a registered member of the ÌÇÐĹÙÍø (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), I adhere to an Ethical Framework and code of practice which also requires me to receive ‘supervision’ every month to ensure I am practicing safely and ethically.

My first session

Don’t worry if you have not seen a Counsellor before. My role is to explore with you what has brought you to seek therapy.

In the initial 40 minute free consultation we’ll briefly discuss what you would like to explore and any goals or aims you may have (you may not know just yet and that’s fine too).

Following the initial consultation, you’ll have chance to reflect on whether you would like to continue to work with me.

If you decide to continue, usually we begin with 6 sessions. Sessions are 50 minutes, once per week for the 6 weeks – but this is not set in stone and can be less or significantly more depending on you and your unique situation. We will work to your pace and you decide what we do or don’t discuss.
