About me and my therapy practice
I am trained in Transactional Analysis (TA), a talking therapy, designed to promote personal growth and change, helping individuals to reach their full potential in all aspects of life.
As an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor, I use a range of approaches to create deeper self-awareness and understanding, with a view to supporting you in achieving the changes you wish to make. My approach is relational and person centred approach, with the aim of providing a safe, supportive and compassionate space, through an open and attentive listening style, combined with questioning, observation, reflection and gentle challenge, where appropriate.
I also work with Children and Young People (CYP) people and I am on the NCPS CYP register. As an experienced school counsellor, I work in schools with both primary age children 6-11 and young people 11-19+. I work in private practice from a dedicated CYP shepherds hut in Ringmer, designed to put young people at ease and to support them in engaging with therapy. If you are a parent looking for therapy for your child or young person, please do contact me to arrange a free initial 30 minute consultation call.
Practice description
Sessions are designed to explore the issues that you are experiencing and how aspects of your current life may have been been shaped by earlier events and experiences. I offer a facilitative approach, with sessions being client led and at your pace.
My approach, is to facilitate working with the mind and the body, with the aim of integrating and connecting thoughts and feelings, that may have become disconnected.
If appropriate, I may offer some of the Transactional Analysis models that can be used to explain communication and relationships. These models can help identify communication challenges in relationships or internal negative thoughts and narrative. The aim is to bring awareness to the client and provide opportunities for individuals to change repetitive patterns, and open up the potential for a better outcome.
My first session
I offer an initial free 30 minute consultation call, via zoom to explore what brings you to therapy, at this time and what you hope to gain from the sessions, I also ask about your previous experiences of therapy. It is also an opportunity for me to share a little about how I work and for you to ask me any questions you might have.
If following the initial call, we decide to work together, we can agree a regular time to meet on a weekly basis and I suggest an initial 8 sessions, and then we review progress of the therapy.
