About me and my therapy practice

If you're looking through therapist profiles wondering how on earth you're meant to choose, I completely understand. Before I trained as a counsellor, I wouldn't have known where to start either.

And if you've tried therapy before and it didn't feel right, that doesn't necessarily mean therapy isn't for you. Sometimes it simply means you haven't found the right therapist yet.

My advice? Talk to a few. Ask questions. Notice how you feel when you're talking to them. Do you feel comfortable? Heard? Can you imagine yourself being honest with them? Sometimes your instinct, and even what you notice in your body, can tell you more than a profile ever could.

I'm Nikki, an Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist working with adults. For me, the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of therapy. I believe that being genuinely seen, heard and accepted by another person can itself create the conditions for change. Feeling safe enough to be yourself, perhaps sometimes for the first time, can be powerful.

I'm fascinated by how our early relationships and life experiences shape who we become. Our past doesn't have to define us, but it can continue to show up and sometimes hijack the present, influencing our relationships, our choices and how we see ourselves.

My approach is rooted in Person-Centred Therapy and informed by Gestalt and Existential thinking. You're unique, so our work needs to be too.

I'm also human. I'll bring empathy, honesty and curiosity to our work, without judgement. I don't need to have all the answers; I'll sit alongside you as we make sense of what life has brought you.

I believe it's never too late to become more fully yourself.

Practice description

Perhaps you're struggling in a relationship, experiencing anxiety or low self-esteem, going through separation or divorce, navigating loss, becoming a parent, facing menopause or retirement, or questioning who you are and where you're heading.

Or perhaps nothing feels particularly wrong on paper, but something doesn't feel right inside. You may find yourself repeating patterns, reacting in ways you don't understand, or feeling disconnected from yourself.

Therapy with me offers a space to pause, make sense of what is happening and understand yourself with greater compassion. Together, we can explore what sits beneath the surface and what you might want to do differently.

I work from therapy rooms in Hove, Hampden Park, Hassocks and Hurst, with online sessions also available. I work with adults only and currently offer couples therapy in person.

I offer concessions and reduced rates for block bookings. Please get in touch to enquire.

My first session

My first session

Not sure whether therapy or me, are right for you? That's completely okay.

I offer a free initial telephone conversation, with no obligation to book. It's simply a chance for us to talk, for you to tell me a little about what's brought you here, ask questions and get a feel for whether we might work well together.

Let's talk and see.

If you decide you'd like to continue, our first therapy session we'll have time to get to know each other, discuss and agree our working contract, talk about what's brought you to therapy and begin to explore what you might want from our work together.

You don't need the right words or your whole story worked out. Start wherever feels possible, and we'll take it from there.
