About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Catherine, and welcome to CHC Counselling.
I'm someone who genuinely enjoys connecting with people and hearing their stories. I'm warm, approachable and believe in the value of counselling for everyone. Life can be incredibly challenging, but it can also be full of moments of hope, growth, and even laughter. If a smile or a little humour helps you feel more comfortable, then there's absolutely room for that too.
I became a counsellor because I'm passionate about helping people. I know that taking the first step into counselling can feel overwhelming, and it takes courage to ask for support. My goal is to offer you a safe, relaxed space where you can be completely yourself—whether you're feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, or simply trying to make sense of life.
Practice description
I work in a person-centred way, which means I won't tell you what to do or judge your choices. Instead, I'll listen with empathy, curiosity, and compassion, helping you explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. I truly believe that everyone deserves a space to be heard, and I feel privileged to walk alongside people when they need support offering a space for understanding and self-acceptance.
Wherever you are on your journey, you'll be met with kindness, respect, and the belief that you already have the capacity to create meaningful change. My role is simply to support you in finding your way.
My first session
I offer a free 30-minute phone or online session as an opportunity for us to meet, have a chat about what has brought you to counselling, and for you to ask any questions you may have. There’s no pressure or expectation to commit to ongoing sessions. It’s simply a chance for you to get a feel for me, how I work, and whether you feel comfortable talking with me. Finding the right counsellor is important, and this initial conversation gives us both the opportunity to see whether we feel we are a good fit before proceeding to work together.
