About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Lucy, a person-centred therapist, and I'm glad you're here. Trying to find the right therapist for you can be quite energy-consuming. Perhaps life is already feeling very intense at the moment, making the process feel taxing. Perhaps you've been thinking about starting therapy for a while but wonder if your reasons are "enough" to come. Or maybe you've had therapy before, and it wasn't a helpful experience, meaning that starting again feels like an exhausting task.
Whatever your circumstances might be, and whatever is bringing you to therapy during this chapter of your life, I'm here to support you and meet you exactly where you are. With care, curiosity and without judgement.
Practice description
I work in way that is client-led and relational. I believe the therapeutic relationship is really crucial to effective healing work. It's therefore important to me to create a space that fosters safety, client autonomy, curiosity, empowerment and self-acceptance. I offer my acceptance equally to all parts of you; all parts of you are welcome. I prioritise authenticity and bring my genuine self to sessions, rather than being a 'blank canvas'. If it feels right for you, we can also work creatively using different materials, writing, photos, imagery, guided meditation or movement.
I have a particular interest in working with:
- trauma, adverse childhood experiences, abuse and neglect, complex bereavement, CPTSD, PTSD, neurodivergence, shame and LGBTQ+ issues.
- people who work within the creative industries. I have a background in theatre & film and therefore have a rich understanding of the many challenges that can come with working freelance in this field. Work that often involves being away from home, long hours and intensive working days.
- both adults and young people (14+). From my placements in training, I have gained experience working with teenagers, as well as adults who are carers.
My first session
I offer a 20-minute introductory meeting online, where we can chat through where you are and how I work, and see if working together feels like a good fit. My session fee is £55.00 and sessions are 50 minutes and usually weekly to begin with.
