About me and my therapy practice
I work integratively, bringing together psychological understanding, relational therapy and a nervous-system-informed approach. I am interested not only in what has happened to you, but in how your experiences continue to shape the way you think, feel, relate and respond in the present.
Alongside conversation, I pay attention to what is happening beneath words 鈥 patterns of activation and withdrawal, bodily responses, emotional shifts and the ways we protect ourselves when something feels unsafe or overwhelming. This can be particularly helpful when insight alone has not been enough to change how you feel.
My work is informed by attachment, trauma and psychological models, alongside an understanding of the relationship between mind and body. Depending on what you need, sessions may include reflective and relational work, nervous-system regulation, imagery, experiential approaches and somatic awareness. We decide together what feels useful rather than following a prescribed method.
I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, stress, life transitions and difficulties with self-worth or identity. I also work with couples.
My approach is collaborative and thoughtful. I aim to help you develop a deeper understanding of your own patterns while creating space for something different to become possible 鈥 psychologically, relationally and within the body.
Practice description
My practice offers a space to work with emotional and psychological difficulties at more than one level. We may begin with what is happening in your life now 鈥 anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, overwhelm, repeated patterns or a sense that something is not quite right 鈥 and gradually explore what may be underneath.
I have a particular interest in trauma, attachment and the nervous system. Sometimes we understand intellectually why we respond as we do, yet our body continues to react with anxiety, tension, shutdown or a persistent sense of threat. Therapy can help us become curious about these responses rather than simply trying to control or overcome them.
In Chelmsford, I offer both 60-minute Talking Therapy and 90-minute Integrative Therapy. Talking Therapy provides space for psychological and relational exploration. The longer Integrative Therapy sessions allow more time to move between conversation and experiential or body-based ways of working, where these are appropriate and something you would like to explore.
You do not need to know which approach you need before coming. We can begin with what brings you to therapy and develop the work together.
My Chelmsford practice is available on Thursdays. Online sessions are also available for Talking Therapy.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know one another and to explore what has brought you to therapy. There is no expectation that you arrive knowing exactly what you want to work on or that you tell me everything at once.
I will usually ask about what is happening for you now, relevant experiences from your past, your relationships and what you hope might be different as a result of therapy. We may also begin noticing patterns in how you experience and respond to difficulties, including emotional and bodily responses where these feel relevant.
Just as importantly, the first session gives you an opportunity to experience how I work and to consider whether I feel like the right therapist for you. Towards the end, we can think together about what might be helpful going forward and whether you would like to continue.
There is no obligation to commit to ongoing therapy following the first session.

About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative therapist working from the understanding that emotional difficulties do not exist only in our thoughts. Our experiences are also carried through our relationships, our bodies and nervous systems, and the ways we have learned to protect ourselves over time.
My approach therefore goes beyond talking alone.
We may explore what is happening in your life now, experiences from the past, relationship and attachment patterns, emotions that feel difficult to understand, and the ways your nervous system responds to stress, uncertainty or connection. I may offer psychological perspectives and psychoeducation where these help you make sense of what is happening, rather than simply giving you techniques to manage symptoms.
Alongside talking therapy, I offer more deeply embodied nervous-system work. This can include guided somatic exploration and, within my longer Integrative Therapy sessions, hands-on somatic work using slow, rhythmic movement. This is a more active and experiential way of working with the body and nervous system rather than relying on insight or conversation alone. Any body-based work is discussed beforehand and takes place with clear consent.
I do not work from the assumption that there is something about you that needs to be 鈥渇ixed鈥. Often, responses that seem confusing or unhelpful begin to make much more sense when we understand what they developed in response to.
My role is to work alongside you with curiosity and psychological depth, helping us understand not only what is happening, but what may be happening underneath it.
I work relationally, which means the therapeutic relationship itself matters. Therapy is not something I simply deliver to you; it is a process we enter together, at a pace that allows enough safety for something different to emerge.
Practice description
I offer individual therapy in two formats: 60-minute Talking Therapy and 90-minute Integrative Therapy. Sessions are available in person from my private therapy room in Brentwood, Essex, with Talking Therapy also available online via Zoom.
Therapy can be arranged in one of two ways, depending on what feels most appropriate for you.
**12-session format**
We agree on a block of 12 sessions, usually meeting weekly, followed by a review session. Your sessions are arranged in advance, giving the work a consistent rhythm and allowing us to stay with the process over time rather than approaching therapy one session at a time. At the review, we reflect on where you are and decide together whether to continue, pause or bring the work to an ending.
**Open-ended therapy**
For longer-term work, I also offer open-ended therapy with a regular weekly or fortnightly appointment. There is no predetermined number of sessions. We review the work as it develops, and when the time comes to finish, we give attention to the ending rather than therapy simply stopping.
You do not need to decide which structure is right for you before contacting me. We can think about this together during an initial conversation.
**Talking Therapy** can be particularly helpful when you want space to understand yourself, your relationships, recurring patterns or a difficult period in your life.
**Integrative Therapy** gives us more time and includes the possibility of hands-on somatic and nervous-system work alongside psychological therapy. This is offered in person and is always discussed with you beforehand and guided by consent.
I also offer relationship counselling and parent support, with their own structures tailored to the nature of that work.
My first session
Before beginning therapy, I offer a free initial conversation. This gives us an opportunity to briefly explore what brings you to therapy, what you are hoping for, and whether the way I work feels right for you.
There is no expectation that you tell me your whole story during this conversation. It is an opportunity for us both to get a sense of whether working together feels appropriate and for you to ask any questions you may have.
If we decide to proceed, I will send you my therapeutic agreement before our first session. This sets out the practical and professional framework for our work together, including confidentiality, communication, attendance and payment.
Your first therapy session is charged at my usual session rate. Rather than completing a separate formal assessment session, we begin the therapeutic work from our first meeting. I will want to understand more about what has brought you, what is happening in your life now, relevant aspects of your history and what you would like to be different.
There is no need to arrive with everything organised or know where to begin. We can find the starting point together.
For individual therapy, we will also agree whether a 12-session format or open-ended therapy feels most appropriate, as well as the regularity and timing of your sessions.
