About me and my therapy practice
I work in a person-centred way, which means I aim to follow your pace, your lead, and what feels most important for you to bring to our sessions. I see you as the expert in your own experience, and our work together will be shaped around what you need and where you are at.
Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, particularly when you're taking new steps, facing uncertainty, or standing at a crossroads. Counselling offers a space to slow down, explore what is happening for you, and make sense of your thoughts, feelings, experiences and relationships in a supportive and confidential environment.
My aim is to provide a calm, accepting space where you don't need to have everything figured out before you arrive. Together, we can gently explore what feels important to you, develop a greater understanding of yourself and your experiences, and consider the direction you would like to move in.
Practice description
Sessions are a space for you to talk openly about whatever is bringing you to counselling, without judgement or pressure to have the right words or answers. We can take time to explore what is happening for you, at a pace that feels manageable, and make sense of things together.
I will listen carefully and be alongside you in the process, offering gentle reflections and questions where they may be helpful. Sometimes this might mean staying with something that feels difficult or confusing; at other times, it may be about noticing patterns, gaining a different perspective, or thinking about what you would like to change.
There is no expectation that you need to know exactly what you want to achieve from counselling when we begin. We can start wherever you are and allow the work to develop from there. My hope is that you leave our sessions feeling heard, understood, and with a little more clarity about yourself and what feels important to you.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute initial call as an opportunity for us to get to know each other a little. We can talk about what you’re looking for, how I work, and whether we feel like a good fit to work together. There is no pressure to commit, and you don’t need to share your whole story during this call.
If you decide to begin counselling, our first session is about getting to know each other, talking through how we’ll work together, and beginning to explore what has brought you to counselling. There is no expectation that you need to have everything figured out or tell me everything at once. We can take our time and begin wherever feels most comfortable for you.
