About me and my therapy practice
I am a registered and accredited member of the ÌÇÐĹÙÍø (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and an accredited member of the EMDR association.
I work both online with people in the UK and Europe and face to face with people who are local to me.
I offer short term, medium term and long term therapeutic support.
In medium to long term support I can offer you a mix of EMDR and talk therapy.
In short term therapy I will collaborate with you on a short term piece of work either in EMDR or talk therapy.
I have experience of counselling people from different cultures, religions and races to my own.
Practice description
I offer a warm, safe, supportive, confidential place for you to explore the difficulties that you are facing.
I will work alongside you at your own pace and support you to develop new ways of coping.
I meet everyone that I work with as an individual with their own unique life experience which I honour and respect.
Talk Therapy
I work using an approach called Integrative Counselling. I am trained and experienced in using approaches from different schools of therapy to enhance your wellbeing and support you to work through problems that influence your relationships, mental health and wellbeing . I am able to choose the tools by listening to your story carefully and hearing your needs. The sorts of tools I use include, CBT, EMDR, Creative Therapies, Transactional Analysis, Mindfulness and Psychological Educational Tools.
EMDR
During the 8 phases of the EMDR therapy you should expect to gain psychological education about how trauma is held in the body and mind, resources to help you regulate in between sessions, assessment and desensitisation of material which will result in reductions in intrusive thoughts and images, nightmares, anxiety , panic and other trauma related symptoms. You will find that you are more able to get on with day to day tasks and engage with more things that you once enjoyed,
My first session
Within the first appointment we will spend time on what is going on for you in the present and pay attention to any past difficulty that you feel comfortable in sharing with me. We will also look at what you would like to get from therapy. I will offer you a chance to ask any questions and discuss what you would like from counselling.
I will also ask you about any risk of harm to yourself and assess your current levels of depression and anxiety.
I will support you to form some goals or hopes for the counselling which we can review and will inform our work together.
The cost of the consultation is £40
