About me and my therapy practice
Starting therapy can feel frightening for some people, after all, you are preparing to open up to a complete stranger. For some, it could be a bad experience with previous counsellors. Please be assured that most of the 22,000 people I've worked with over the last 30 years have felt this way; it is very normal to feel a little anxious. Most clients feel at ease and settle into sessions quickly.
Hello, I’m Bhavna Raithatha, ÌÇÐĹÙÍø Accredited Psychotherapist, Executive Coach, Keynote Speaker, and author of Driven: The Audacity to Thrive in Entrepreneurship. I support leaders, teams, and individuals in high-demand roles to manage anxiety, stress, burnout, grief, and other life and work challenges that crop up.
There is nothing I haven't heard in my 30 years and I've worked with clients of all ages and walks of life from around the world.
Having spent many years working with professionals from corporate and financial services backgrounds, I have a strong understanding of the pressures associated with fast-paced, high-achieving environments. I regularly support clients dealing with stress, burnout, anxiety, imposter syndrome, perfectionism, workplace politics, leadership challenges and career uncertainty. Many are outwardly successful but privately struggling with the demands of responsibility, long hours, difficult relationships at work, or the impact their career is having on their personal lives. Therapy provides a confidential and reflective space to explore these challenges, helping you gain greater insight, restore balance and make decisions that align with both your professional ambitions and personal values.
I welcome clients from a wide range of backgrounds, including people from ethnically diverse communities and the LGBTQ+ community. I have a deep understanding of the unique challenges that can arise from familial and cultural expectations, and I offer a safe, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement.
Practice description
Therapy and coaching are for anyone. Seeking support is a sign of strength and for many, courage even though it may feel scary. My goal is to encourage and support you to reach whatever goals you set out for yourself during our consultation session and help you leave our work feeling much better than at the beginning, leaving with plenty of tools to help you in the future.
Our work begins with a full 50 minute consultation via zoom to explore why you are seeking therapy now. During this time you can ask absolutely any question regarding therapy and I'll be delighted to answer them.
This initial meeting allows us to look at what has brought you to therapy - for example has something happened, or have you decided now feels right, etc. We discuss your expectations and goals from therapy and of course, any concerns you may have and how ready you feel to engage in the process and create plan of action.
We discuss how may sessions you might need as well as contractual issues (so you know exactly what will happen when we work together and what to expect) if you decide to enter into therapy with me.
Our sessions take place weekly and I will do my best to offer the same day and time, if available. Clients are welcome to pre book and prepay to reserve their favourite day and time (if available).
I am an Accredited Integrative Humanistic Psychotherapist with a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology. This means I am trained in multiple therapeutic approaches which allow me to tailor my approaches for each client.
My work is trauma informed enabling me to support clients who may have experienced trauma at any point in their lives. I am also a Critical Incident Debriefer for organisations ad offer support after major incidents including death in service and suicides.
As a member of the ÌÇÐĹÙÍø Media team, I am regularly approached to offer professional input to national newspapers and magazines on a wide range of wellbeing issues, bringing my expertise into the public conversation.
My first session
This session continues from our consultation session and begins the therapeutic work.
There is no expectation to tell your whole story straight away. Therapy moves at your pace, and together we will create a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Each session builds on the last. Please know that sometime life happens and you may want or need to speak about this instead of what was planned - this is absolutely fine. In such cases, we would discuss the slight change and carry on.
I do offer homework and it is upto you to complete it. The more a client puts in, the more they get out. Therapeutic homework is a tool we may use between sessions to help you get the most from your therapy. It isn’t about pressure or tasks for the sake of tasks - it’s about giving you practical ways to reflect, practice, and integrate the insights we explore in our sessions into your everyday life.
Homework can take many forms, such as journalling, noticing patterns in thoughts or feelings, challenging old beliefs, trying new coping strategies, or reflecting on experiences. Engaging with these activities between sessions helps you deepen self-awareness, track progress, and strengthen the changes you are working towards.
Think of therapy as an investment in yourself: the sessions provide guidance and support, and homework allows you to actively apply that learning in your life. Together, this combination helps you gain greater value from the time, energy, and financial commitment you are making to your wellbeing.
