About me and my therapy practice
I am a fully qualified psychotherapist offering a safe, calm space for you to begin to talk.
I work with people around a wide range of issues including anxiety/panic attacks, depression/feeling sad, relationship and family difficulties, trauma, bereavment & loss, abuse, sexual abuse including non-recent sexual abuse, life transitions, work stress, low self esteem and struggles with identity and sense of self.
I also have an interest in the emotional challenges of pregnancy, fertility, infant loss, birth trauma and parenthood.
As a psychodynamic psychotherapist my approach is to work with you to explore the underlying causes of your current difficulties.
As adults we can often unconsciously continue to repeat negative patterns of being and relating, rooted in childhood and our early life experience.
By gaining an awareness and understanding of this in therapy we can develop the capacity to relate to ourselves and our personal narrative in a more reflective yet active way, leading to fresh insight, self-acceptance, self-compassion and the possibility of lasting, positive change.
I offer open-ended therapy arrangements allowing time for issues to surface and be worked on in depth.
I also offer time-limited therapy arrangements between 12 - 16 sessions if you are wanting to work with a specific focus.
I have completed a rigorous post-graduate 5 year professional training at one of the leading academic and clinical institutions for psychotherapy in the UK and hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy accredited by Roehampton University.
I have been working in private practice for over 12 years and previous to this held roles as an honorary Clinical Assessor and specialist Time-Limited Clinician in the charitable sector.
Practice description
I work with people from a diverse range of backgrounds in terms of age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity/culture, religious belief and none, physical abilities and disabilities.
I am a professional member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (Accred.), the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (ÌÇÐĹÙÍø) and the Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling (FPC) and work within, promote and uphold the strict ethical standards of these organisations.
My first session
I charge a set fee of £95 for an initial consultation.
Lasting just under an hour, the initial consultation is a space where you can tell me about yourself and what is making you think about therapy now.
It is often helpful if you can talk a little about your childhood and family life, also your experience of any previous therapy and what it is you are hoping to gain from therapy now.
The initial consultation is an opportunity for you to ask questions and have an experience of sitting and talking to me and to think about whether you would feel comfortable doing that going forward.
I usually suggest meeting for a follow-up session in a weeks time, allowing space for you to reflect on our time together and for me to think about your therapeutic needs and what might be helpful in terms of a therapy arrangement going forward.
At a follow-up appointment you may have thought of questions you would like to ask and I can talk about how I work and what a therapy arrangement between us might look like in terms of the fee, breaks, ending therapy, etc.
If you decide you would like to take up therapy with me, we would agree a time for our session, meeting in that time every week and for 50 minutes.

Practice description
Therapy sessions take place at the same time every week lasting for 50 minutes.
I usually suggest an open-ended therapy arrangement, where you attend for as long as you feel you want or need to and which allows time and space for issues to come to consciousness and be worked on in depth.
I also offer time-limited therapy arrangements between 12 - 16 sessions where there may be practical reasons you are unable for now to commit to open-ended therapy and/or you are wanting to work with a specific focus.
I work with people from a diverse range of backgrounds in terms of age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity/culture, religious belief and none, physical abilities and disabilities.

My first session
Beginning therapy can be one of the most positive steps we ever take and it can also feel quite daunting.
I usually suggest meeting for an initial consultation.
Lasting just under an hour, the initial consultation is a confidential, space where you can tell me about yourself and what is making you think about therapy now.

The initial consultation is an opportunity for you to ask questions and have an experience of sitting and talking to me and think about whether you would feel comfortable doing that going forward.
After the initial consultation, I usually suggest meeting for a follow-up session in the next week or so, allowing space for you to reflect on our time together and for me to think about your therapeutic needs and what might be helpful for you in terms of a therapy arrangement going forward.
At a follow-up appointment I can talk about how I work and what a therapy arrangement between us might look like in terms of the fee, breaks, ending therapy, etc.
If you decide you would like to take up therapy with me, we would agree a mutually convenient time for our session going forward.
