About me and my therapy practice
I offer on-line counselling from home, both long- and short term, as well as one-off support sessions and ‘Walk and Talk’ [Beverley Westwood]. I am trained in psychotherapy and counselling to Masters Level, and work in a humanistic solution-focussed way. Counselling is most likely to be successful when there is a positive relationship between the client and the therapist. I offer a confidential, non-judgemental space for clients to be able to share with me what is troubling them and jointly work together to find solutions to their problems.
Practice description
About me
As a fully qualified ÌÇÐĹÙÍø accredited therapist, with 14 years counselling experience, working with both adults and young people, I will provide you with the following:
A safe space where you can talk about personal, emotional or psychological issues, perhaps for the first time.
A non-judgemental, client-led place, in which you can start to make better sense of your thoughts, behaviours and emotions, and your relationships with others.
A collaborative non-biased, relationship where we can work through possible strategies and outcomes to problems, together.
Regular mental health and emotional well-being support where you can make sense of life's problems and feel happier and more fulfilled in yourself.
I can offer mental-heath support for:
Anxiety; depression; bereavement; low self-esteem; lack of confidence, relationship issues, career or other life changes, anger management, addiction and trauma, as well as gender and sexual orientation issues.
An opportunity to talk in confidence to someone from the comfort of your own private space, via WhatsApp or FaceTime, without the need to travel to my premises.
What I'm not able to offer:
Advice giving to help resolve your problems.
Counselling is not necessarily about a quick fix, though I do offer drop-in sessions, which can benefit some clients, where deeper work is not needed.
A friendship or a casual social interaction.
Counselling is not about any admission of weakness, but quite the opposite is true.
I would never push the client in to talking about anything they do not want to unearth about their past.
My first session
The first session would be in the form of an assessment to find out what is concerning the client and how long they have been struggling with the problem. I will ask the client to share any previous counselling support experience; current mood, ask which supportive relationships you have in your life; and what you expect to gain from the support.
