The purpose of these sessions is to understand and apply an embedded approach to therapeutic practice, where context, normativity/diversity, and universal EDI are embedded by design in self, , therapeutic practice and curriculum (not as an add-on)—referred to as 'Whole-Person' or ‘Whole Solution' Practice. This includes awareness, tools, and skills in embedding social and personal context, normativity, similarity and difference, ‘as standard’ for all clients (as well as becoming more self-aware of your own whole context).
The latest training competencies (SCoPEd, Jan 22, Amended April 25) require us to incorporate aspects such as context, culture, difference, and diversity throughout the pillars of practice (e.g., self-development, theory, skills, and practice). To achieve an embedded approach, various aspects of 'self in context' must be included in a holistic, non-fragmented understanding of what it means to be human in the world. By intentionally embedding essential yet often overlooked and fragmented concepts—such as identity, similarity, difference, diversity, culture, social context, power dynamics, intersectionality, neurodiversity, antidiscrimination, and stress-, trauma-, and harm-informed models—into our understanding of both ourselves and our clients' experiences and relationships, we can foster fairer, more inclusive, and stronger practices. This training will introduce a 'whole view' of self/clients, whole relationships, and provide a practical approach to embedding the concept of 'client self-context in context' into our daily work with clients, including within supervision. Various applications of the approach will be introduced, including its use within training curricula and in building more whole (inclusive) training and learning cultures.
Event aimsÌý
The main aim of the PDDÌýisÌýto help therapists embed context, normativity/difference and universal EDI within self and practice.
By the end of the PDD, participants will be able to:Ìý

- use and explain the Whole Experience Model, with access to a reference card and supporting resources for ongoing learning and development
- understand and begin applying the Whole Relationship Framework to support whole, embedded therapeutic practice, curriculum design, and self-development
- explain how contextual factors influence all relationships, such as embodied activation and societal prejudice
- define and explain the concepts of embodied prejudice, pre-rupture, and contextual empathy, and articulate their significance for therapeutic practice
- describe why the conventional scope of the therapeutic relationship requires expansion in light of embedded practice aims
- use the Whole Relationship Model as a framework for reflective practice
- apply the Wholeness models through case examples and practical applications to deepen understanding and confidence in their use
- recognise how the Wholeness Solution can be applied within existing frameworks, including the Seven-Eyed Model of Supervision
- demonstrate a basic understanding of the embedded curriculum approach and its underpinning pedagogy
- access and engage with the free #TADF community, including advocacy opportunities, learning resources, and ongoing support services
