I generally see clients Monday to Wednesday.

I keep Thursdays and Fridays for writing, research and reflection. Continuing to learn, think and develop is an important part of who I am as a therapist, and I believe it enables me to offer the best possible support to the people I work with.

That said, I also understand that life doesn't always fit neatly into a timetable.

Where possible, I will always try to be flexible around my clients' needs. If you need an appointment outside of my usual working days, please ask. I will do my best to accommodate you.

I also offer early morning appointments at weekends when needed.

If you're unsure what might work best, simply get in touch and let me know what you're looking for. Together, we'll see if we can find a time that suits us both.

About me and my therapy practice

In 2015, when I qualified as a psychotherapist, I remember saying to my tutor, "I believe in all the theories. What kind of therapist do I need to become?"

His answer was simple: "Integrative."

What he meant was that becoming an integrative therapist wasn't just about learning different theories. It meant being prepared to continually explore my own life story, stay open to new ideas and research, and never stop learning.

I committed to that journey because I believed something very strongly: How could I ask clients to look deeply at themselves if I wasn't willing to do the same?

Ten years later, I've written five books, and I can honestly say I'm at peace with who I am, who I have been, and why I've been different versions of myself throughout my life.

I know my survival modes. I understand the energy I embody and where it comes from. I've become psychologically flexible rather than feeling stuck or trapped, because I've taken the time to understand my own story instead of running from it.

What I've learnt is that my answers came from understanding my story. I believe your answers will come from understanding yours.

We all carry unconscious beliefs, many formed in childhood, that quietly influence how we live today. We often don't even realise they're there until life starts feeling difficult, relationships become challenging, or we find ourselves repeating the same patterns.

That's why I believe everyone deserves a safe place to figure themselves out. A place to process sadness, express anger, make sense of the past, and understand how it still shows up in the present.

I'm not going to pretend it's easy. Looking at ourselves can be incredibly hard.

When we're finally sick, there is often a sense of relief. Not because being sick is pleasant, but because our body has finally released what it was holding onto.

When we can see it all, we get personal clarity, which for me is freedom and internal peace.

Practice description

Our emotions and thoughts work in much the same way.

We need somewhere safe to process them, express them and let them move through us. I often say that crying is like having a wee, and expressing anger is like having a poo. It might sound simple, but our emotional system is designed to release, not to store everything inside forever.

I'm a miner's daughter, so I've always believed in plain, everyday language rather than complicated psychological jargon. I want therapy to feel understandable, relatable and something people can actually apply to their own lives.

For me, therapy isn't about becoming someone different.

It's about understanding who you've been, recognising why you've survived the way you have, and giving yourself the freedom to become who you truly are.

Everything I do is about helping people gain clarity, reconnect with themselves, and ultimately find their own sense of personal empowerment.

One of the things I've come to realise is that, had I visited my GP or a mental health service at different stages of my own journey, I may well have met the criteria for different diagnoses at different times.

That isn't because those diagnoses would have been "wrong." They would have reflected how I was presenting at that moment in my life.

For me, though, a diagnosis wouldn't have been the end of the story. I wanted to understand why I felt the way I did. I wanted to understand what my mind and body had learnt through my experiences, how my childhood had shaped my unconscious beliefs, and how those beliefs continued to influence my adult life.

That understanding changed everything.

It's why I don't believe everyone needs fixing. I believe people need understanding.

When you understand your story, your survival strategies begin to make sense. And once they make sense, you have the freedom to choose differently.

A diagnosis can explain what you're experiencing. Understanding your story can help explain why. For many people, both have value.

My first session

Therapy isn't about me having all the answers. It's a collaborative process.

I encourage my clients to be honest with me about what's helping and what isn't. If something doesn't feel right, I want to know. There is no judgement. Therapy is often a process of trial and reflection. What works brilliantly for one person may not work for another, and that's okay. Together, we explore, reflect, adapt and discover what helps you move forward.

I'm also honest about something many therapists don't always say.

The relationship between therapist and client matters. Research consistently shows that the therapeutic relationship is one of the strongest predictors of positive outcomes. If you don't feel a connection with me, it doesn't mean therapy has failed. It simply means I may not be the right therapist for you.

Finding the right therapist is a bit like finding the right pair of shoes. They might be excellent quality, but if they don't fit, you'll never feel comfortable wearing them.

If I'm not the right fit, I genuinely encourage you to keep looking. The right therapist is out there.

I offer a free 20-minute online consultation because I believe it's important that you have the opportunity to decide whether I feel like the right therapist for you.

This isn't a therapy session. It's a chance for us to meet, for you to ask any questions you may have, and for you to get a sense of who I am, how I work, and whether you feel comfortable talking with me.

Finding the right therapist is an important part of the therapeutic process. If we connect, we can discuss how we might work together. If we don't, that's absolutely okay.

Following the consultation, I offer:

Online therapy

Face-to-face therapy

Home visits (available for an additional fee to cover travel time and mileage)
